You Never Asked For Trauma...

In fact, you probably never consented to a lot of what happened during your past medicalized labor and birth. Everything happened so fast...you expected support; you thought you picked the right birth team to fulfill your wishes; you were never even presented with the option to say NO to many of the things you now understand were a choice. In the aftermath of your sabotaged birth, you are left wondering what you did wrong, and calling your care provider a "hero?!" Spoiler alert: you did nothing wrong, and likely didn't need "saving" with any of the interventions that now haunt you.

It may take months or even years to become fully aware of the emotional manipulation or physical trauma a momma goes through during a medicalized birth. It can feel so infuriating to hear "at least you and your baby are healthy," when that focuses on diminishing very real trauma experienced at the hands of "professionals." You may be telling yourself it doesn't matter how the birth went or to get over, but it does matter. YOU MATTER. You, your baby, and your family all deserve to know you as an unburdened mother. It's time to acknowledging your trauma, wade through the ocean of emotions that have come with it, and find some peace.

Find Your Voice Again

Did you plan for a natural birth and end up with surgery instead? Did you have to sneak in your basic human rights: scarfing down an apple in the bathroom and begging to stand up? Do you look back at your birth and wonder why it happened the way it did? Do you feel like you failed? Do you console yourself by looking at your baby and saying it was all worth it?

I want to re-introduce you...

-to yourself as a woman of autonomy and power

-to the idea of informed consent

-to birth as a natural rite of passage

They have stolen your voice for too long. Only by unpacking the trauma your voice has been hiding behind will we find it again.
